Union Shmunion

|

I can’t believe it my union is going to strike. First of all I can’t believe that I’m in a union. Throughout my life I’ve been on the other side of “The Union”. As a Software Engineer I’ve never been in a union. I’ve never needed one, pay is good, the hours are fair (most of the time) and at a really good company they pay for school (well mine apparently isnt’ a real good company, but that is another story).

Now at my current job, the union feels that we have been so wronged by out Cost Of Living increases of 0%, 2%, 2% for a three-year contract, that we have to strike. F- That. This all really breaks down to, do I want to strike to support the lifestyle of lifer municipal employees who would not be able to find another job that makes almost 100k a year for an outdated or nonexistent skill set. Hmmmm, no.

Step your damn game up and find another job, I’m here because I think that my free time is well worth the pay cut I’ve taken for being here, damn it. So if you hopping mad enough to strike then step your game up. I’m a programmer when the hell should programmers strike, damn this job is great I get paid to write software and fiddle with cutting edge technology, this is great. I think most of the people in my union are overpaid and lazy (except the one’s that know who I am and might be reading this blog ).

Whew, I just had to get that out.

Honestly, I really don’t agree with what unions have become. There was a time that they were vital for America’s workers from the early 1900 until now, but. . .( You know there is always a but) , I’m convinced that they have outlived their usefulness.

Rather than making leaps and strides for genuine labor rights. Many times the modern Union does nothing but create a culture of sloth and waste in their respective organizations. Trust, I’m not trippin, I’m currently the benefit of a work culture of waste and sloth.

In order to get fired you have to either come to work visibly drunk or expose yourself at the job, and then someone will get you therapy. Its, ridiculous. The funny thing is I’m a member of the union and I’ve been to a few union rallies and I still think its B.S. The more I hear about it, the more it sounds like some kind of game so the union bosses can collect $5 from 5000 workers 2 times a month.

It’s a Pimp.
