I got this tattoo last month on my left forearm. The cross on her head scarred a little, even though I'm very pleased.
Marco is working on the next one for the other side of my left forearm. I'm going with a Roman Catholic feel for the whole arm, probably a few pieces sewn together with clouds or smoke. The next one will be of a womans hand holding a realistic Sacred Heart showing all the ventricles, with a crown of thorns.
Why Roman Catholic? Because it reminds me of the heathen Spirits, Gods, and Orishas of my anscestors. All those Saints have older meanings then any of the people they represent. Religion to me is a cultural thing, I was born into a Judeo-Christian culture so it is imbedded in my psyche. Not only me, but its also part of american born converst, its hard to shake. Catholic symbolism has dual meanings within South America and the Carribean that invoke older powers, I appreciate that.
Oh I ramble.
