Marisa DiMattia the editor of Needled.com has shown me what I want for Christmas. Its a book titled Full Coverage, a documentary of the efforts of 8 tattoo artist who over 2 years documented their efforts on 33 full Backpieces. It’s a book and an accompanying DVD which tells the tales of not only the artists doing the work but the living canvases who have chosen to have these back pieces done. The artists call themselves the New Skool Collective ,their tattoo game is on point.
First, check out the article on Needled.com written by Olivia Miner one of the 33 people who were tattooed during the project (who if she is wondering has nice round buns but that is for another discussion). Then check out the artists from the New Skool Collective, because their work is really nice, I’m particularly impressed by the work of Adrian Lee. Then last but not least go to Astrogirls flickr gallery, to see exibit opening.
Usually when I read books and magazines about tattoo’s I’m always surprised at how little information is given about the people who choose to get these images on their body. Some people get certain designs because they are just “cool” but other think long and hard as to why they get particular images on their skin. Just ask Michelle, because I would love to know why she got her tattoo’s.
