"Probably be murdered for the shit that I said I bring the real, be a legend, breathin' or dead Lord listen to me God don't like ugly It Was Written" --2pac, Against All Odds
The video blog "Alive in Bagdhad" has had me captivated. It details the daily lives of Iraq civilians. What really blows me away is that some of the footage could of been taken in Arizona. You see all the real people who are being affected by the war in Iraq. These guys in these videos look like any of the people you see running any Inner City corner store, looking real as hell; burly, hairy, with that thick mustache wearing eurotrash suits, you know the look.
I grew up in suburban Maryland, most of my friends were Ethiopian and Indian Muslims. This has left me with a much more nuanced view of world events. I can remember sitting on the floor eating Injera during Eide after Ramadan, talking about the first Iraq war.
It really hits when you see these videos by Iraqis, but they look just like most of my high school friends, the mannerism are so familiar.
