The Harder They Come

|

Time is hard to come by. It always seems to slip away.

For something so precious, it is always so fleeting. It must be precious because every one seems to want some of mine.

Technology is both a gift and a curse. Don’t get me wrong I love it; I definitely have a gadget fetish, a design fetish and a programming fetish just to name a few.

But, as I said before all of these things have their benefits and their detractors.

When I first began to work with technology everyone would as

“Can you fix my computer”.

At first I would try and be nice. Then it got to be just too much. The answer became

“No, I can’t fix your computer, go get a new one”. , or

“Reformat the hard drive and put the OS back on.”

This answer will usually be followed with “But what about the term paper I didn’t save and want to retrieve from this mystery virus I got from dontclickonme.com”

Now I can just tell people to call GeekSquad.com and get off my back.

Working on someone’s website is frustrating. Many times you are holding their dream in your hand.

Really, yes really.

“Hey I have this million dollar idea it just involves you to build a simple website that . . . . . “

“No!”

“but, It’s really easy”

“No!”

“but . . “

“No”

So as of now I am out of the website building business. The only one’s I’m doing are the ones that I say “Hey can I get into that project”.

Its time to aggressively protect my time. If its not about work or school, I just don’t have time for it. Especially if they need updates and changes because nothing is as simple or easy as they believe it is.
